Eknath Shinde Targets INDIA Bloc, Says Opposition Is Trying to Destabilise India
Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde targets the INDIA bloc over Sanjay Raut's remarks, accusing opposition leaders of spreading false narratives and creating unrest while questioning their protest against the Supreme Court.
Responding to the opposition, Shinde said, “I want to tell them that this is India, not Bangladesh, Sri Lanka or Nepal.” He asserted that the opposition’s attempts to create instability would not succeed.
Shinde also questioned the language used by opposition leaders against the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister, alleging that they were trying to create an atmosphere of unrest in the country. He claimed that opposition leaders had no substantive work to focus on and were instead attempting to disrupt the prevailing situation through their statements.
Targeting the INDIA bloc, the Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister said opposition parties knew they would not return to power for the next 15 to 20 years. He accused them of spreading false narratives while development initiatives in the country were benefiting crores of people.
Shinde described opposition leaders as being against development and alleged that their distance from power had made them restless. He further claimed that they were resorting to misleading statements in an attempt to regain power.
Questions Opposition's Protest Against Supreme Court
The Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister also raised questions about opposition protests, particularly a march against the Supreme Court in which demonstrators carried copies of the Constitution.
“How is taking out a march against the Supreme Court while holding a copy of the Constitution in one's hand consistent with the spirit of the Constitution?” Shinde asked.
He accused opposition parties of attempting to divide the country rather than unite its people. Shinde asserted that the country's 140 crore people would respond to what he described as such politics.
His remarks form part of his broader political attack on the opposition and the INDIA bloc, with allegations of attempts to spread misleading narratives, create unrest and undermine the country's development agenda.
